Residential Building | Yazd, Iran

Area: 800m²

This project is designed with a combination of vertical boxes that extend from the ground to the top of the building, creating an ascending rhythm that conveys a sense of dynamism and growth. This design not only evokes a feeling of elevation but also establishes a visual connection between the structure and the sky.
Alongside these vertical boxes, shrubs have been planted in a stepped arrangement, following the architectural rhythm and expanding upward. This design for the green spaces gives the impression of nature climbing within the structure, offering the experience of a living vertical garden. The orderly and tiered placement of the shrubs helps soften the building’s presence and creates an organic connection with the surrounding environment.
Considering the geographical location of Yazd and the intensity of sunlight in the region, vertical aluminum elements have been incorporated into the façade to control sunlight. These features not only reduce the impact of direct sunlight but also create dynamic patterns of light and shadow, lending a lively and ever-changing appearance to the building throughout the day.
The primary material for the boxes is kahgel (traditional mud plaster), which draws inspiration from the vernacular architecture of Yazd while meeting contemporary requirements. This thoughtful combination of material and form creates a delicate balance between tradition and modernity.
Through its ascending boxes, stepped greenery, and intelligent use of light and shadow, this project offers a dynamic architecture perfectly aligned with Yazd’s climate and cultural identity
