Glassical

Villa | Dasht e Mosha, Damavand, Iran

Area: 850m²

This building is a response to the steep slope, perpendicular to the land. At the same time, it is an attempt to engage in a dialogue with the climate, space, and to create an experience of life within glass frames and flexible forms.
The form of this building reflects a balance of contrast and harmony: the contrast between the hardness and solidity of the earth versus the transparency and lightness of glass; between confinement and openness. This contrast takes the shape of a dual dialogue, where on one side there is enclosure, and on the other, openness. Enclosure that is not an obstacle to openness, but rather a condition for it. Without the northern and western walls, the building could not withstand the harsh winds, and in their absence, the southern and eastern windows could not open either.
The interior space is not merely a geometric structure; it is a living experience of movement between the levels. Movement is not simply passing from one floor to another, but a sensory experience of connection with the environment. It is a space that invites human interaction and discovery, creating a dynamic bond with the surroundings rather than presenting a static place.
The tribute to Richard Meier, the forerunner of the white postmodern school, is not only in the choice of materials or geometric lines but in a narrative that breathes life into the space and transforms the glass walls into frames for vibrant, dynamic vistas.
Glassical is a story of architecture in which every angle, every line, and every detail is not merely a design decision, but a question about the relationship between humanity, time, and form.
