Residential Building | Lavasan, Tehran, Iran

Area: 900m²

The design of this building is based on the contrast between continuous vertical lines and curved openings. The main façade features narrow, vertical elements that give the structure a sense of stability and order. However, amidst this order, a large brick arch emerges, seemingly splitting the façade and revealing another layer of the building. This soft and fluid arch creates a focal point in the design, highlighting the entrance while imbuing the structure with a sense of motion and dynamism.
This curved brick opening facilitates the integration of nature into the architecture. Plants grow through the arch and between the vertical lines, symbolizing the fusion of natural life with the urban fabric and evoking the concept of a vertical garden or a modern “koocheh-bagh” (alley garden).
Light and shadow play a key role in this design. The vertical lines and openings create a delicate interplay of light and shade that shifts throughout the day, animating the façade and making the building appear dynamic and alive.
By combining soft curves, vertical lines, and the presence of greenery, this structure embodies harmony between movement, stillness, and life, seamlessly blending functionality with visual elegance.
